About Us

Maika’i Health is a nonprofit community clinic providing comprehensive primary medical and behavioral health care, and pharmacy services for all.

As a training community clinic, we champion health equity and advance retention opportunities for locally trained healthcare professionals via partnerships with education institutions.

We work to address the two major contributors to health inequities in our community: 1) provider and health care professional shortages, and 2) access to healthcare for all regardless of age, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, income, insurance status, and other overt or implicit biases that may contribute to health inequities.

Mission Statement

Our mission at Maika’i Health is, “To be the patient-centered healthcare home that is accessible for all and be the center for healthcare learning excellence in East Hawai’i.”

Our Values

We have a culture that is inclusive, innovative, relevant, and inspires our staff, patients, and student volunteers to reach for a bright and healthy future. We are determined in our approach to our provision of care and learning, are creative in our thinking, and bold in our ambitions.

Our Philosophy

We, at Maika’i Health, follow a patient-centered health care model and a hands-on learning collaborative approach.  While we embrace the spirit of intrapreneurship and innovation, our health care model is based on proven integrative strategies.
